In June 2024, ABP announced an industry-leading programme, the ‘Energy Ventures Accelerator’ (EVA) to help promising startups scale their businesses in high-growth energy sectors, such as hydrogen, floating wind and low-carbon fuels.
The Energy Ventures Accelerator will be delivered in partnership with Plug and Play, the world’s leading innovation platform and venture capital investor. ABP is the first UK port operator to partner with Plug and Play, which has a world-wide network of over 550 corporate partners and 65,000 startups in its network.
The EVA programme is open to startups, innovators, or investors tackling challenges in floating offshore wind, industrial decarbonisation, low-carbon fuels, or CCS. We particularly welcome applications from women, ethnic minority people and other underrepresented groups.
Gateways to Tomorrow
As an island nation, ports have always been vital to the UK. As the UK’s leading port operator, ABP is central to this contribution.
The role of ports is evolving in new, demanding and exciting ways as the world changes and pressures on the planet and resources grow.
We are committed to building a world where business and supply chains are ready for tomorrow and can make the most of the opportunities presented by the clean energy transition.
That is why we are planning to invest as much as £1.4 billion in large-scala port infrastructure, as part of our sustainability strategy, ‘Ready for Tomorrow’.
ABP is also working with both large and small businesses to drive industrial decarbonisation and scale clean energy industries in the UK.
