Goole Bridge Closed for Essential Maintenance

November 26, 2018

ABP will repair West Dock Bridge during the first two weekends in December to ensure it remains safe for public use.
The UK’s biggest port operator, ABP, owns and operates various bridges in the town and West Dock Bridge will close to vehicles and pedestrians from 6am Saturday 1 December to 5am Monday 3 December and 6am Saturday 8 December to 5am Monday 10 December.
The maintenance is essential to ensure the structure of the bridge remains sound for future use.
The vehicle diversion is around two miles via the A161 Normandy Way and pedestrians can either use the same route or access the nearby public right of way via South Street/Aire Street.
“We would like to apologise for the disruption this essential work on the bridge will cause,” said Chris Green, Port Manager for Goole & Hull.
“Unfortunately, the bridge has to be closed whilst our team works on it as they’re performing maintenance on the overhead braces which are essential in the overall strength of structure.
“Our priority is to ensure everyone remains safe and that the bridge is open for many more years to come.”
