Preparation is underway for ABP Humber’s first Half Marathon

July 27, 2017

Plans for the first ABP Humber Coastal Half Marathon are well underway, just two months after the Great Grimsby 10k event takes place.

ABP Humber announced their main sponsorship of North East Lincolnshire’s first coastal Half Marathon which is set to take place on 3rd September and have been working closely with race organisers, Tape2Tape in the run up to the event.

The first 1,000 tickets released for the event were snapped up in just over 48 hours with keen runners from all over the region, eager to secure their place.

The race, which now hosts an impressive waiting list, has sold out at full capacity with 1,600 people having signed up.

The avidly anticipated half marathon will see runners of all abilities come together for the mass-participation sporting event which is due to start and end on Cleethorpes promenade.

The event will see each runner receive a bespoke medal, a technical t-shirt and in an original twist, an ice cream upon completion.

Simon Bird, Regional Director for ABP Humber, said: “We are extremely proud to be supporting this brand new event which we hope will become a permanent fixture on the region’s sporting calendar. We hope that the Half Marathon puts the Humber on the map and that the wider community enjoys the event as much as we will.”

The race would not be possible without the help and support of local volunteers therefore if you are interested in getting involved and helping out on the day, you can sign up here: tape2tape.co.uk/volunteer/

The picturesque 13 mile route, promises fantastic coastal and countryside views for people taking part, covering Humberston, Tetney and Cleethorpes. Members of the public are encouraged to line the streets along the route on the day to cheer and applaud runners as they conquer ABP’s first ever Humber Coastal Half Marathon.
