April 30, 2014
A ports career spanning more than 45 years was honoured when ABP Group Head of Marketing Frank Robotham was named Personality of the Year at the Multimodal VIP dinner.
The award recognises Frank's outstanding contribution to the UK's freight and ports industry, since he started out with shipping company Ocean Transport and Trading in 1968.
Hailed as an "eternal and evergreen presence in the UK freight industry", Frank has made a major contribution to the development of the nation's ports.
His contribution has included being one of the original proponents of Port Centric Logistics when he worked at Liverpool Freeport warehousing. He was also a key adviser to the team that launched Mulitmodal, now well established as the UK and Ireland's leading freight transport and logistics exhibition.
Prior to joining ABP in 2010, Frank enjoyed a highly successful career at Mersey Docks & Harbour Company, beginning in 1977 as Assistant Marketing Manager and running until 2009, by which stage he was Group Marketing Director.
Presenting the award, Robert Jervis, Director at Clarion Events Ltd, said: “He is a true personality in this industry and we, like many others in this room, have been grateful for his knowledge and support over the years."
Speaking about the award, Frank said: "Receiving this award is a great honour. A special thanks to Multimodal and all my wonderful colleagues and customers, both past and present. It's fantastic to be part of such a great industry and I'm extremely proud of the vital contribution it makes."
ABP Chief Executive James Cooper said: "Anyone who knows Frank, and that's most of the industry, will tell you this honour is richly deserved. Not only is he a hugely popular figure but he has also made a genuinely significant mark on our industry."
