Here to meet your automotive requirements

We pride ourselves on working closely with our partners across automotive supply chains in order to develop a deep understanding of our customers’ needs and help them prepare for the future. As part of this, we continue to invest in decarbonisation, digitalisation and efficiency to support our customers’ operations and streamline processes from start to finish.

With the ability to handle 1.7 million cars annually through our ports on the Humber and in Southampton, enhancing supply chain resilience and reducing transport time and costs is imperative to us. We therefore are constantly looking to streamline the process from start to finish.

We understand that you and your customers need safe and time-efficient handling, keeping control of your costs. ABP’s extensive portfolio of facilities, backed by well-equipped stevedoring operations and other support services, will help your business achieve this objective.

Your UK Automotive Gateway

With our sector expertise, unrivalled infrastructure and strategic geographical advantage, we are perfectly positioned to accommodate for your automotive needs.

Southampton

The Port of Southampton is a sheltered deep water port located on the South Coast of England, close to major shipping lanes. It links the UK to key European and global markets, making it an optimal port choice for automotive imports and exports, as well as to service short sea and deep sea markets.

Unlike most UK ports, it is accessible 24/7, 365 days a year because there are no vessel restrictions (locks or tidal). The Port of Southampton also benefits from a double high tide. We handled 520,000 units in Southampton during 2023 and with a vehicle capacity of 50,000 at any time, we are well-equipped to handle more.

The Humber

Located on the East Coast of England, the Ports of Grimsby and Immingham provide a prime base for onward truck and rail distribution to all major conurbations throughout the UK. With frequently dredged, and multi-point access to deep sea berths, our Humber ports are in a prime position to service both deep sea and short sea car carriers. Complementing the Humber’s range of berthing options is its easily accessible, vast storage space, with over 200 acres dedicated to cars. With recent developments such as a new FPR at Immingham, combined with over £10m of investment at Grimsby, ABP continues to invest in cementing the Humber as a key hub for automotive trade.
